I can't figure out if this series is meant to be just a parody of the Class S genre or if it's supposed to be taken seriously, as all the sudden Angst of Doom in this volume would suggest. It doesn't help that the action is confused and rushed, with too many undeveloped characters competing for attention, or that the two main couples in this volume seem completely arbitrary - I still have absolutely no idea why they are supposed to be attracted to each other, let alone why they are declaring ete...more

This rating would have been bumped up if this were not the last translated volume.
When I finished this volume, I went to find the next one, to find out that this was the end. It is obvious that this series was meant to continue on because this volume ended in the middle of the competition. But because it is technically the last volume, I have to judge it as so.
The relationships in this volume felt extremely rushed. Characters felt pushed together rather than coming together naturally. I

The second part of the series has more over the top events, but it was still as good as the first volume. This is the last volume released however so this is it for the time being.
I actually couldn't finish this one. I forced myself through the first volume and just couldn't get through this as the writing never improved. I admit this is my first yuri, but it wasn't the yuriness of it that bothered me. In fact, I thought that bit cheesy and soft-core and plan on seeking out other yuri novels to understand the genre. No, the bit that bothered me was the story. It was all over the place. Character after character is introduced with short jumps back to people introduced earl...more

Recommends it for: Anyone who likes yuri, and anyone 16+
Finally on the second volume, I can't get enough of this series! The comedy, the yuri romance... it just all makes a great book.
The Etoile competition is heating up, when all of a sudden Makoto comes back! An old student of Astraea who went to study abroad in Russia for six years.
This volume revolves mainly around the Etoile competition, and all the twists and turns it takes.
A new transfer student who might be Astraea's greatest star yet?

5 years after I first read it, I read it again.
*sniffles*Kaori.. ah that part, that broke my heart in Light Novel and anime too. Poor Shizuma-oneesama. :(
Other then that, it was a wonderful volume, but the Continued in volume 3 message... :( There was never a volume 3. Just an omnibus with a few more chapters. : How sad this got discontinued.
Not generally something that would be on the top of my list to read but I was greatly surprised! I absolutely loved the storyline and all of the characters. I would read this series again in a minute, it was that good!
